Each Vortech supercharging system is designed, tested, and sold to be installed on vehicles in their original or otherwise stock form. We have a somewhat conservative approach to tuning, (this being the setting of boost levels, ignition timing, and fuel delivery), referred to as "Safe Boost."

We provide the best performance while maintaining a margin of safety that anticipates most driving conditions that the customer may encounter. We certainly could tune more aggressively to add a few extra horsepower, however, we feel that customer satisfaction would suffer in the long run. Additionally, with Vortech's compressor efficiency and charge cooler systems, comparable kit performance exceeds competitors' on-the-edge-systems.

Standard Systems
These part numbers are complete systems including all components required for a bolt-on installation by the experienced do-it-yourselfer. All systems are 50-state emissions legal or are pending smog legal.

High-Output Systems (Charge Cooled)
A charge cooler configuration is included with these highly popular systems. It allows for additional horsepower gains and features a sealed, maintenance-free design. These systems are 50-state emissions legal or in process of this certification.

Third Party Systems
Vortech does not make a system for every vehicle on the road. We have selected companies such as Shelby Autos and VF-Engineering to produce systems using a Vortech supercharger for various applications. Warranty is provided by these companies. Visit our website or call Vortech for more information.

Tuner Kits
These configurations are designed for those qualified tuners or race shops who do not require the fuel managements items included in our standard systems. Among the items excluded are fuel pump, fuel injectors, FMU, air-inlet assembly (T-Trim models) and ECM programmer or timing controller.

Base Kits
Designed for those who already have a Vortech Supercharger, but need the miscellaneous components (brackets, connectors, ducts, hoses, fasteners, etc.) to complete an installation. Fuel management components/electronics are available separately.

Vortech Standard and High-Ouput (Charge Cooled) Systems
are 100% complete, allowing an effortless installation.

Uncomplicated Installations
Systems are designed for easy installation by most car/truck/SUV enthusiasts or automotive technicians. We include every component necessary to modify the appropriate factory components from fuel and ignition management to air intake. Additionally, Vortech maintains a tech line with trained personnel ready to assist and advise those who want to push the limits or need help for competition efforts.

Maintenance
Vortech supercharging systems feature a heavy duty engine oil lubrication system ensuring a fresh supply of oil to the supercharger bearings and gears. This ensures maximum durability with virtually no maintenance. In fact, when you change your engine oil, you change the supercharger oil. Owning a Vortech supercharging system is as easy as following your factory maintenance schedules and running premium unleaded fuel.

50-State Emission Legal
Most Vortech systems are emissions legal in all 50 states or have the California Air Resources Board (C.A.R.B.) approval pending on process completion. Executive Order Numbers awarded on Vortech systems are as follows; D-213-17, D-213-19, D-213-20, D-213-21, D-213-22, D-213-23 and D-213-24. Please refer to the system pages in this catalog for specific EO number by application.

Durability/Driveability
The centrifugal supercharger system characteristics of progressive and linear power addition (over the naturally aspirated engine) allows for peak power targets to be achieved without overwhelming drivetrain components such as transmissions, driveshafts, clutches and rear axle assemblies. This performance curve, directly proportional to engine rpm, allows a centrifugal system to exceed the peak power potential of other boosting options with excellent driveability, performance and less impact on fuel economy. And, coupled with our conservative approach to tuning, we have seen many of our owners exceed 100,000 miles of trouble free motoring.

Modified Vehicles
Vortech supercharging systems are developed using a stock vehicle. Only minor modifications such as a cat-back exhaust system will be compatible with our product. Custom programming (not included) will be required on modified vehicles with aftermarket exhaust headers, computer chip, throttle body, or mass air flow sensor. Also, regarding aftermarket tires and wheels, changing the overall diameter of the drive wheels more then an inch may require custom programming.

High-Altitude Operation As a result of the change in atmospheric pressure with an increase in altitude, a drop in boost pressure is common when operating in such cities as Denver, Colorado. A good rule of thumb is that you'll experience a 1 1/2 to 2 PSIG drop in pressure at a 5000 ft. elevation.
